Hair powder is used to create grip and a more textured appearance at the roots. By Vilain Blow belongs in the styling step, on dry hair. It can help shape a flat-looking style, but it does not replace washing or treat thinning hair.
What result should you expect?
Use a powder when you want more root grip or separation without coating the hair in a glossy finisher. The result depends on your haircut, the amount used and how much buildup is already present. Fine hair can be overwhelmed by too much, while a long or heavy top may need a haircut adjustment as well as styling.
Apply gradually to dry hair
Follow the current Blow packaging for dispensing instructions. Lift small sections and apply sparingly where root texture is needed. Work it through with your fingertips, then assess the result before adding more. Keep loose powder away from your face and avoid inhaling it.
Shape before you add more
Lift the roots and direct the top into place. If the front needs a different direction, establish that shape during drying first. Powder can support the finish, but it cannot always overcome a strong cowlick or a front that is too long for the silhouette.
What if the hair feels gritty?
A little grip is part of the effect; an uncomfortable or heavily coated feel is a cue to use less. Adding a second thick layer rarely improves an overloaded result. Cleanse the hair when needed and restart with a smaller application.
Powder, clay or pomade?
Choose powder for root grip, clay for more deliberate separation and a matte finish, or a light pomade for smoother movement and shine. These categories vary by formula.
