Olivier Giroud Hairstyle 2016: Short Sides and a Lifted Front

The Olivier Giroud-inspired 2016 cut uses close sides and a compact, lifted top. In the original Slikhaar tutorial, the extra length at the fringe creates the front height while the shorter crown supports the shape.

What to ask your barber for

The reference uses approximately 6–8 mm on the sides. The top is about 4 cm towards the back and 6 cm at the fringe. Show the side profile as well as the front: the transition and front-to-back proportions are more informative than simply asking for a footballer haircut.

Prepare the hair and tools

Keep a reference photo, a suitable comb or brush, a dryer if you use one, and your chosen styling product nearby. Start with hair that is free of heavy buildup. If shampooing, follow with conditioner where your lengths need it and rinse as directed. Blot rather than rub with a towel.

Set the direction before adding the finish

Dry the top upwards at the roots and slightly backwards at the ends. Keep the airflow moving and use your brush to control the front. You do not need to point the dryer directly at the scalp to obtain lift.

Choose the hold and shine

Use a small amount of By Vilain Silver Fox if you want a stronger hold with some shine. Work it through dry hair, then pinch the front into a compact shape. Add only a little more if the top needs definition.

Adjust the result to your hair

A flat iron is optional, not a requirement. If using one, work on fully dry hair, follow the tool and heat-protectant instructions and avoid repeated passes. Natural wave can stay in the finished style.
