Winter hair care is about responding to dryness, static, hats and changes in your usual routine. Keep cleansing appropriate for your scalp, condition the lengths and handle the hair gently. You do not need to replace every product because the season changes.

1. Keep showers comfortable
Use comfortably warm water rather than prolonged, very hot rinsing. If your scalp feels uncomfortable after washing, review the water temperature and products together.

2. Wash according to your scalp
Cold weather does not create a universal two-washes-per-week rule. Sweat, oil and styling buildup still matter. Use a routine that leaves your scalp comfortable and clean.

3. Condition the lengths
Apply a rinse-out conditioner where manageability is needed, then rinse as directed. Start with a smaller amount on fine hair and adjust the placement if the roots feel heavy.

4. Distinguish leave-in products
A rinse-out conditioner is not automatically an overnight treatment. If you want a leave-in, choose one intended for that use and your hair type.

5. Blot rather than scrub
Squeeze and blot excess water with a towel. Rough rubbing can create tangles that take more pulling to remove afterwards.

6. Use heat thoughtfully
If using a dryer, choose a gentle setting, keep it moving and follow the heat-protectant instructions. Heat protection does not make repeated high heat harmless.

7. Dry for comfort before going out
Leave enough time to dry your hair comfortably before a cold journey. If air-drying takes too long, a controlled low-heat drying step is a practical alternative.
8. Make hats work with the cut
Choose a comfortable fit and keep the lining clean. After removing the hat, lift the roots with your fingers and reshape lightly instead of immediately applying more wax.

9. Trim when the shape or ends need it
A trim removes worn ends and refreshes an outline. It does not hydrate the remaining hair. Ask for the smallest useful adjustment if you are growing your hair longer.
10. Investigate persistent scalp symptoms
Flakes are not always simply winter dryness. If itching, redness or scaling persists, seek advice rather than adding scalp oils or changing products repeatedly. Keep your daily routine simple enough to identify what helps.
